Tex and Jack are two cowboys from the Wild West who met back in 1999. Since then, their friendship developed into a magical and creative collaborative duo in 2012. They are today poster artists and are famous for their eye catching illustrations made out of various materials and objects they’ve collected through the years.
Conversation with Tex & Jack
Where are you from and where do you currently live?
Originally we are from the Wild West. Now we live in a kind of circus in the city - which you might have noticed from all the crazy animals who tend to chase us.
When did you become an artist and what was your first project?
The official Tex and Jack story just started in 2012, however the true Tex og Jack anecdote began a long long time ago...
Did you study art in school, if so where?
Our basic education come from designschools, however most of what we know is what we learned from travelling around the world (the real one and the imaginary one). The most essential development appear when our brains meet up and melt together.
What inspires you? Any particular artists?
The inspiration starts coming when we close the door to the studio and open all the drawers with paper, glitter, pictures etc. In this location we go on inspiration trips to the world of fantasies; to far end galaxies and exotic islands where all kinds of animals rule the world.
The scene of art introduces so many inspiring artists- we have a bunch of favorite guys from the Danish Ib Spang Olsen to Russian/French Sonia Delaunay.
What are some of the ideas behind your work?
All of the artworks have its own story - right now we are working on a bigger story about the life in an insect hotel...
